conventions of a contents page

contents page
  • page numbers
  • has an order
  • has headings
  • images

the point of a contents page is to inform he reader exactly what is in the magazine.

-page numbers this is so the reader knows exactly were the pages are

-order it goes down chronalogical order so things are easier to find

-headings heading of the various pages and thena short paragraoh underneath explaining it in more detail.

-images to make it more apealing for the reader

conventions of a college magazine

There are many features a college magazine has. Such as

title of the brand name.

usually at the top.


A main image in the middle of the magazine. That relates to the magazine theme.


A date.

website.





All these things are relevent to the type of magazine. The title reflects what the magazine is about e.g 'secondary teachers' is obviously for secondary teachers. The picture refers to education. The date and title are important for knowing what issue it is.

the breif

preliminary excercise: using DTP and an image manipulation program, prduce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close up plus some appropriately laid-outtext and masthead. Additionally you must produce a mock-up of the layout of the layout of the contents page to demenstrate their grasp of DTP.

main task: the front page,contents and double page spread of a new music magazine. All images and text used must be origional, produced by you - minimum of four images.

presentation of your work
the presentation of the research, planning and evaluation may take the form of any one, or combination of two or more, of the following:
  • - a presentation using slideshow software such as powerpoint;
  • - a blog
  • - a podcast
